BriseBois has been Tampa Bay's assistant GM for the past eight years and he's been with the organization since 2001, long touted as an up-and-comer in front-office circles.

Yzerman will move to a senior adviser role working under BriseBois and he said he was "100 per cent committed" to the Lightning this season. The Lightning was hoping to sign Yzerman to a contract extension until Tuesday's stunning news.

But early this afternoon, that mood turned somber as reports began surfacing that Yzerman informed the players that he would be stepping aside as the general manager of the Lightning, a role that he has held since 2010.

"This change is important for me, which will allow me to spend more time with my family", said Yzerman, who added he came to this decision in July. He is considered to easily be one of, if not the best general manager in the entire league with how he turned the Lightning around from basement dweller to a Stanley Cup contender year after year.

"We're going to play this year, and after that, I don't know", Yzerman said. He's widely regarded as a strong hockey mind and joined Tampa Bay in 2010 when he was hired from the Montreal Canadiens.

Musk said he was not as anxious about artificial intelligence than he was previously after "taking a more fatalistic attitude". It said Morton had no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or financial reporting.

Yzerman has spent the past eight seasons as general manager of the Tampa Bay Lightning, including five playoff appearances, a trip to the 2015 Stanley Cup Final, and three consecutive Eastern Conference Final appearances in their last three playoff runs.

Before taking on an executive role, Yzerman spent his entire National Hockey League playing career from 1983 to 2006 with the Red Wings and helped Detroit win three Stanley Cups between 1997 and 2002.

Holland signed a two-year contract extension at the end of last season to stay on as Red Wings GM.

Fans went a little nuts at the news Tuesday, wondering if Yzerman will eventually return to the Red Wings. He's also had success developing homegrown talent, like Brayden Point and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, a Vezina Trophy finalist this past season.
