Osaka tames Keys to set up US Open final with childhood idol Serena

American tennis player Serena Williams was up against Japan's Naomi Osaka and lost out on what would've been her 24th Grand Slam win due to "sexism" alleges the tennis star. She briefly disputed that ruling, saying cheating "is the one thing I've never done, ever" - although afterward, her coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, acknowledged he was trying to send Williams a signal.

Having been given a racket abuse warning after losing the first set of her semi-final against Clijsters, Williams was called for a foot fault on a second serve trailing 5-6 and 15-30 in the second set, thus giving her opponent a match point.

"He's never taken a game from a man because they said "thief", the 36-year-old added.

"Because I'm a woman, you're going to take this away from me?" she said to officials.

"You owe me an apology, I have never cheated in my life", Williams yelled. I know you guys were here rooting, and I was rooting, too, but let's make this the best moment we can. This is not fair. "There's a lot of men out here that have said a lot of things and because they are men that doesn't happen". "More voices are needed to do the same".

"I'm honest, I was coaching".

Defending her outburst during the emotion-filled match, the talented mother has come out swinging, saying she is fighting for women's right and equality. "I'm really grateful I was able to play with you".

But the game will be remembered for Williams' meltdown and confrontation with the umpire and match referee.

Reacting angrily, she then picked up a further code violation for verbal abuse after branding the umpire as a "liar" and a "thief".

We take a detailed look at Serena Williams' mental breakdown that ultimately cost her the US Open title on Saturday.

King also tweeted that coaching should be allowed in tennis. "What Serena has accomplished this year in playing her way back on to the tour is truly fantastic", Adams said in the statement.

'The third one I was sitting and praying serena would stop and I'm not justifying what she said.

Williams won the next game, and continued her tearful remonstrations with a supervisor on the changeover.

The US Open umpire slapped Williams with her first penalty - accusing her of being illegally coached from the stands.

'I'm going to say this: Enjoy, there's not going to be any coaching in the men's final tonight, right?

'But you can not deny there have been a lot worse situations and I'm not going to name names.

The presentation ceremony began with more booing from the crowd before a tearful Williams said, to wild cheers: "I don't want to be rude".

Naomi Osaka, of Japan, is hugged by Serena Williams after Osaka defeated Williams in the women's final of the U.S. Open tennis tournament, Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, in NY.

2017 men's finalist Kevin Anderson urged Osaka to feel proud "for competing against someone you (and the rest of us) admire so much to win your first slam".
