Trump calls for investigation of New York Times over op-ed 'treason'

A High-Level "Resistance" Mole Inside the Trump Administration Just Published an Anonymous New York Times Op-Ed

The op-ed, written by a senior Trump administration official, bashed the President as amoral and claimed there is a "resistance" within the administration.

Everyone, including President Donald Trump, wants to know who wrote the bombshell op-ed published by the New York Times.

On Wednesday, the president responded to the Times op-ed with a simple tweet: "TREASON?".

Given the instability many witnessed, there were early whispers within the cabinet of invoking the 25th Amendment, which would start a complex process for removing the president.

"If a person is bold enough to accuse people of negative actions, they have a responsibility to publicly stand by their words and people have the right to be able to defend themselves", she wrote.

As one high level administration official after the other released scathing statements denying they were the wordsmith culprit, Trump appears to have bought the rebuttals.

Let's just hope this saga doesn't end like this.

The daily, which rarely publishes anonymous articles, said it did not publish the official's name on the request of the author, whose "identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardised by its disclosure".

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the author was "not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people".

Local news has reported a blackout across a wide area in Hokkaido. "There are risks of landslides and homes collapsing". A series of smaller shocks, including one with a magnitude of 5.4, followed the initial quake, the JMA said.

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, for her part, seemed more flippant during an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News on Wednesday night. "I would say Jeff should be investigating who the author of that piece was because I really believe it's national security". None of them voted for a gutless, anonymous source to the failing New York Times.

In a highly unusual situation, the author was identified only as "a senior official in the Trump administration". A new book by legendary reporter Bob Woodward reveals that even the White House chief of staff, John F. Kelly, calls President Trump an "idiot" who is "off the rails".

The op-ed is only the latest suggestion that the dysfunction that's characterized the Trump administration since day one may be getting worse.

"Mr. Trump may fear such honorable men, but we should revere them".

"I come from a place where if you're not in a position to execute the commander's intent, you have a singular option".

President Donald Trump on Friday slammed investigative journalist Bob Woodward's damning portrayal of the inner workings of the USA president's administration as a "scam", alleging that it includes made-up quotes.

"The has been in this fight before, and they have taken aggressive positions to protect that source relationship", said Theresa House, who specializes in First Amendment and media law for Arnold & Portner in NY, told Variety.
