Omar Santa Perez, 29, shot and killed three people at the Fifth Third Center in Cincinnati's Fountain Square on September 6, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

Isaac said Perez died after the first officers on the scene shot him multiple times.

The gunman was killed in the incident, police said, although it's unclear if he was shot by police or his own hand. One has been upgraded to serious condigtion and the other is in fair condition, according to UC Health.

Mayor Cranley said a vigil is planned for 4 p.m. on Friday for victims, first responders and the city.

Cranley noted the building on the city's Fountain Square houses popular ice cream, sandwich and pastry shops. He noted that it "could have been much, much worse" if not for the quick police response to the shooting.

Bank manager Greg Harshfield told CNN affiliate WXIX that he could hear the shooting unfold from an upper floor of the building. He saw a woman about to enter the bank and people shouted at her, he said, but she had headphones on.

"She walked in the door and he shot her", Cain said.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco had met 25-year-old Pruthvi Kandepi at a local Hindu temple.

Cincinnati Police confirmed they were investigating an "active shooter/officer involved incident" at the 30-story building on Walnut Street, which houses the bank and several other companies, around 9:30 a.m. Streets and sidewalks around Fountain Square were closed. "It could have been any one of us", he said. "I went around to the north side of the building and sat down". Cook said she and two other employees hid in the bathroom for the duration of the shooting.

Another witness, Michael Richardson, who works in the Fifth Third Bank building, told the newspaper he was outside smoking a cigarette when he heard gunshots.

Londberg quoted the witness as saying, "I saw a guy in a white shirt walking around and shooting like this" (the witness held up his right arm straight in front of him) 'bing bing bing bing, '" and then added, "He ran.

He then made his way to the lobby, where he was met by police officers who gunned him down.

The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene and are assisting Cincinnati police in their investigation, the bureaus said.

Jessica Hanson, who works on one of the lower floors, said a co-worker had taken the elevator down to get a drink, and when the doors opened, she almost stepped on a man's body. We knew immediately something was wrong. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone caught up in this awful event.
