Trump Demands NYT Turn Over Anonymous White House Critic

The New York Times has published an opinion essay written by an anonymous person the newspaper described as a senior White House official whose stated goal is 'to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting [President] Trump's more misguided impulses until he is out of office'.

President Donald Trump insisted on Wednesday that he's "the exact opposite" of Bob Woodward's portrayal of him in a new book that has set off a firestorm in the White House with its descriptions of current and former aides calling Mr. Trump an "idiot" and a "liar".

"This coward should do the right thing and resign", White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said.

In June, the Times published a piece from an asylum seeker who was in a Trump administration family detention center, not identifying her because of gang-related threats she received.

Strikingly, the op-ed says that some in the Cabinet considered invoking the 25th Amendment early in Trump's presidency because of the instability and incompetence they saw in him.

President Donald Trump's former attorney in the Russian Federation investigation says scenes and comments in journalist Bob Woodward's explosive new book on Trump did not occur.

"We fully recognize what is happening", the anonymous author said.

"We see the evidence of people stealing a presidential document off his desk", Kerry said, referring to Woodward's book. "We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers".

The official claims that there have been successes which have come despite - not because of - the president's leadership style, which is described as "impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective".

Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell ‘Not Expected’ To Play Week 1 Vs. Browns
Bell, 26, was franchised for the third consecutive year in March, but the running back is yet to sign the $14.544 million tender. The Steelers and Bell have failed to reach a long-term agreement in each of the past two summers.

The book, which is set to be released on September 11., alleged that Trump's current and former aides have called him an "idiot" and a "liar".

Trump, in fact, used the term "mentally retarded" during a 2004 appearance on "The Howard Stern Show" when discussing a conversation he had with an unnamed "golf pro" about how much he should make for hosting his NBC reality series, "The Apprentice".

Trump spoke with Woodward over the phone on August 14 and expressed regret over not getting to speak to him for the book. And we are trying to do what's right even when Donald Trump won't.

The US leader further questioned whether the alleged "Senior Administration Official" really exists, and urged the paper to reveal its source in the name of national security.

The White House said in a statement Tuesday that the book was full of "fabricated stories" meant to "make the President look bad".

The White House has condemned Woodward's book as "fabricated stories", and Mr Trump called it "a work of fiction".

"None of them voted for a gutless, anonymous source to the failing New York Times".

The article triggered a guessing game in Washington about whether the author worked in the White House or an agency. If you want to ensure you get Trump's attention, you put something in The New York Times.

The assertions in the column were largely in line with complaints about Trump's behavior that have repeatedly been raised by various administration officials, often speaking on the condition of anonymity.
