Mom Allegedly Kills 4-Year-Old Autistic Daughter by Throwing her into a River

Tampa police say that they received a call at around 4 p.m. Thursday that a woman had thrown a child from a nearby bridge.

Tampa police say Denson drove Je'Hyrah Daniels in a stolen auto Thursday to the Hillsborough River, waded in with the girl, tossed her into the water, and walked away. Je'Hyrah was pronounced dead at a hospital. The child is believed to be the woman's 4-year-old daughter. "Roughly halfway across the river, she tossed the child and began wading out", police added.

Police said they located the woman and took her into custody.

"You can just imagine the Fire Rescue and the police officers who responded to this scene and, you know, the craziness of the world that we live in at times", said Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan. "It's a insane world we live in".

Witnesses say Denson grabbed Je'Hyrah with both arms and pulled her close to her chest as the mother waded deeper into the water, according to authorities.

Scientists: 1st sighting of dolphin hybrid is no ‘wholphin’
Before you go tie your head in knots wondering how a whale managed to successfully reproduce with a dolphin - it didn't. For an entirely new and separate species to form, two hybrid individuals would have to mate and reproduce.

CBS Tampa affiliate WTSP reports that Denson is accused of stealing a car from an auto fix shop, then parking the vehicle near Hillsborough River. She told the paper Denson "didn't care" about her daughter. Witnesses were shaken up, the police chief said.

Upon entering the river, she threw Je'Hyrah in and walked away.

She was arrested on several charges, including first-degree felony murder in the death of Je'Hyrah. She was discovered approximately 75 feet from the shore.

"The water was then near the top of (the mother's shoulders) when she released Je'Hyrah into the water".

The incident is similar to a January 2015 case where John Jonchuck Jr., then 25, allegedly threw his 5-year-old daughter, Phoebe, off the Dick Misener Bridge in St. Petersburg.
