Gareth Southgate's men progressed to only their third World Cup semi-final on Saturday as Harry Maguire and Dele Alli scored headers to secure a 2-0 win in Samara.

Harry Kane says he and his England "brothers" are prepared to do whatever is required as they continue to chase their World Cup dream.

"We have got to this point because our collective is so strong". I'd like to pay tribute to both the team and the coach.

Far more fancied England sides had failed to reach the last four in the past but Gareth Southgate's young squad powered on as they continued to make a mockery of dampened pre-tournament expectations with another impressive display in Russian Federation on Sunday (NZ time).

"I gathered the players on the pitch and told them we had a bloody good tournament".

Breathe it in ladies and gentlemen, England are in a World Cup semi-final.

'I got over that (penalty) pretty quickly, just getting focused on the next game, ' he said. "We have an outstanding mentality in these players, a humility and recognition of where they were 18 months ago and the work needed to get to here".

Brazil's lack of a genuine midfield playmaker doomed their World Cup run
Four years ago at home they were humiliated with a 7-1 defeat in the semi-final to Germany. Kevin De Bruyne scores a shocking second goal for Belgium off the counter attack.

"As an attacking player, you want to score goals so I did want one for England", he admitted.

It is probably the biggest fixture in England's recent history, but two footballing icons have been taking bets on the result of Sweden v England.

England held the lead through the halftime whistle before Dele Alli picked up some insurance. The win saw England qualify to the semis for the first time in 28 years, only qualifying for the last 4 in 1990's, when Sir Bobby Charlton was in charge.

Alli added the second goal by meeting a far-post cross from Jesse Lingard with a powerful header in the 59th.

England make it on Venezuela's national newspaper's backpage, with the headline "Semifinal Set". To be able to play we want to play looking forward, we need goalkeepers of that ilk.

England were the last team remaining in the competition without a clean sheet, but a handful of terrific second-half saves from Pickford - twice from Marcus Berg and once from Viktor Claesson - kept Sweden at bay. I'm proud over my team, I'm proud over my country and if we can do this with football, let us spread this love even without.
