Tony Parker agrees to deal with Hornets, reports say

Parker was the No. 28 overall pick by the Spurs in the 2001 National Basketball Association draft, and has spent his entire career in San Antonio.

After 17 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Tony Parker is moving on.

The veteran French point guard chose to seek a new challenge after slipping behind Patty Mills, Dejounte Murray and Derrick White in the pecking order.

Perhaps Parker's presence away from the team could be enough to persuade Kawhi Leonard to play another season for the Spurs. "It's going to be very interesting this year and I look forward to a lot of exciting basketball". This pushed the 35-year-old, who had already missed part of the season with a quad injury, to a full-time bench role for the first time in his career.

The only coach Parker has only known during his career, Gregg Popovich, later released a statement on the impact the point guard had on the franchise.

Leonard is believed to be angry with both the Spurs' diagnosis and treatment of a long-standing quadriceps injury that kept him sidelined for all but nine games last season. He also averaged a career-low 19.5 minutes per bout in 55 games. In addition, Parker's public complaints about Leonard's injury were reportedly the last straw for Leonard, who now wants out of San Antonio. We are grateful to Tony for 17 years of truly wonderful memories. "We never had an argument", Parker told The Undefeated. Parker said to ESPN.

"I said yes because it was true". He took over the franchise and I gave up the torch of the franchise willingly. "He was the face of the franchise".
