Case in point is the OnePlus 2T, which debuted in November 2016, and was denied the Android Oreo update. This means OnePlus phones that were launched three years ago will get Android security updates and bug fixes from the company for three years. "We look forward to bring you more exciting news about Android version updates for OnePlus 3/3T in the coming months, stay tuned".

That's exactly what OnePlus has done this week, announcing what it calls the Software Maintenance Schedule.

One of the biggest complaints and hesitations around purchasing a OnePlus device was if it would be updated and left behind in the Android software lifecycle. In addition to the 24-month support, the company will provide one-year extended support to provide Android Security Patch updates once every two months for the devices. Today, the company has announced the OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule which outlines how long devices will receive new features, Android updates, Android security patches, and bug fixes. The OnePlus 5 and 5T will receive regular OTA updates from the company until November of 2019, going by the new maintenance programme from the company. With Google including OnePlus in the early stages of Android P, it seemed promising that the device would have an expedited path to the final Android P build. Now, for the first time ever, OnePlus has officially released the software support schedule for its device.

LeBron James Opts Out Of His Deal, Becomes Unrestricted Free Agent
The four-time MVP is set to become the biggest name available once free agency officially begins at 11:01 p.m. It will likely continue up until the time that James makes his decision.

If this sounds familiar, it's because the OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule is similar in its offering to Google's Android One program.

The policy will also include all new, compatible features developed by OnePlus itself for the Oxygen OS, outside of the Android operating system.
