Samsung's Chromebook Plus (V2) gets turbocharged with an Intel processor

In order to make sure that the Chromebook supports all the Android apps on the Chrome OS, Samsung has opted for an Intel chip that is recommended by Google themselves. So besides the front-facing 1-megapixel camera, you also get a rear-facing 13-megapixel shooter with f/1.9 and autofocus. It'll be here on June 24, with Best Buy serving as the main (and possibly exclusive) retail partner for the device. The Chromebook Plus (V2) is now powered by a lower-end Celeron processor, which should mean that the device will be faster than its predecessor. "The features include Chrome OS, a built-in pen, and a 12.2" FHD 1920 × 1080 resolution screen which transforms the device from notebook to tablet to sketchbook - and back with two cameras.

As much as we love seeing the upgraded internals, the Chromebook Plus V2's screen is actually a downgrade compared to its predecessor. When the keyboard is flipped, it can serve as its rear camera.

"Today's consumers want to be able to maximize their communication while also expressing their creativity wherever they are, and the new Samsung Chromebook Plus fulfills that need", Samsung Electronics America senior vice president and general manager Alanna Cotton said.
