33-year-old sister of Dutch queen dies in Argentina

"It is presumed that it was a suicide", a spokesman of the Dutch government told Argentinian newspaper La Nacion of the 33-year-old's death.

Investigating prosecutors in Argentina said that Zorreguieta was found dead on Wednesday evening by her mother and a friend, who called 911.

According to reports, Inés Zorreguieta had been suffering from depression. Zorreguieta was also godmother to the couple's third child, her 11-year-old niece Princess Ariane of the Netherlands.

Her father, Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta, died a year ago in Buenos Aires aged 89. "I wish them all the strength necessary to carry this disgusting loss together and I trust that they will get the peace and space for that".

Dutch state-run news agency RVD said the queen was "very shocked and very upset by the news". "And I trust that they will get the peace and space for that". Dutch News reported she canceled a visit to Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia following the news of her sister's passing.

Queen Maxima, a native Argentinian, married then Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander in 2002.

Between 2009 and 2011 she worked at the United Nations headquarters of Panama but returned to Argentina in 2012 after a breakup.
