More details have emerged after an altercation at a Florida gym ended with Richie Incognito involuntarily being held for a psychiatric evaluation.

The man who said Incognito threw the dumbbell at him said the four-time Pro Bowler told him to "get off my f-king playground". Incognito had previously retired from the National Football League through a series of odd tweets, citing health concerns as the main reason for his departure from the game.

The 911 call leading up to the moments a former Buffalo Bill was taken into custody have been released.

Investigators ultimately concluded that "Incognito was suffering from an altered, paranoid state and believed ordinary citizens were government officials that were tracking him and recording him".

Employees at the gym told police that Incognito also threw items at them.

Incognito was an All-Big 12 pick in 2003 but was kicked off the team by new head coach Bill Callahan in the fall of 2004. "I don't know the whole story, but wish him the best and hope he gets everything figured out".

Brown said that when he asked Incognito why the government would be watching him, he replied that Brown didn't have a high enough security clearance to discuss it with him.

Incognito told police: "I'm running NSA class level 3 documents through my phone".

After three-straight Pro Bowl seasons and 10 seasons in the league, guard Richie Incognito made a decision to retire after the 2018 season. Following the incident, Incognito was sent to involuntary psychiatric care by authorities.

On Monday, the Bills released the 34-year-old offensive lineman from the reserve/retired list. Incognito was among the players identified for targeting teammate Jonathan Martin in the Miami Dolphins' bullying scandal during the 2013 season. The Bills had asked him to take a pay cut earlier this offseason, and Incognito appeared to be in favor of it before abruptly changing his mind and firing his former agent, David Dunn.

Just a month beforehand, Incognito and his team had agreed to a renegotiated contract.
