Trump, aides celebrate Jerusalem embassy, as border burns

A military spokesman said Tuesday that 14 of those killed a day earlier were involved in attacks.

It was the deadliest day in Gaza since a 2014 cross-border war. Two Palestinians were shot dead, the Gaza health ministry said. It remained unclear Tuesday where and how the child died.

The bloodshed came as the USA officially opened its embassy to Israel in Jerusalem, a controversial move given the city is also claimed as the capital of Palestine.

Palestinians claim East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state, and see the U.S. move as backing Israeli control over the whole of the city.

He said that Pakistan also renews its call for establishment of a viable, independent and contiguous state of Palestine, on the basis of internationally agreed parameters, the pre-1967 borders, and with Jerusalem as its capital. "Now it's another illegal settlement by the Israel and the United States". "The plain reality that Israel's capital is Jerusalem", he said.

Malaysia has condemned the Israeli violence against the Palestinians and called upon the United Nations to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.

"Such violence is destructive to peace efforts and we call on all sides to show restraint", she said.

Israeli officials say that Hamas has used the protests to cover terrorist activities and to distract Palestinians from its "failures as a governing body".

Ambassador Eitan Na'eh was ordered to leave "for a while", the Turkish Foreign Ministry said, a day after Ankara recalled its envoy from Israel.

Turkey lowered its flags to half-mast to mark three days of mourning and said it was willing to take in wounded Palestinians.

Condemning Israel's "racist aggression on Palestine", the EFF lashed out at governments that associate with the country.

China called for restraint, "especially" from Israel.

The clock is ticking, EU warns Britain of poor Brexit progress
Barnier later said that there had been "a little, not very little progress" but warned that more was urgently needed. The EU has said London must come up with a solution for the Irish border and highlights that has not happened.

Ismail Radwan, a senior Hamas figure, said the mass border protests against Israel will continue "until the rights of the Palestinian people are achieved".

The remarks - made at a Security Council meeting that ended without any joint statement or action - came amid fresh violence Tuesday.

It is the culmination of a campaign, led by Hamas and fuelled by despair among Gaza's two million people, to break the decade-old border blockade of the territory by Israel and Egypt.

Hamas leaders have suggested a border breach is possible yesterday, while Israel has warned it would prevent protesters from breaking through the barrier at any cost.

"For many years we failed to acknowledge the obvious".

"This bloodbath is the continuation of the Israeli army's policy during the last seven weeks: shooting with live ammunition at demonstrators, on the assumption that anyone approaching the separation fence is a legitimate target", Marie-Elisabeth Ingres, the group's representative in Gaza, said in a statement.

Monday was the deadliest day in the region since the 2014 Gaza war, as 60 Palestinians were killed and more than 2,700 wounded amid protests over the United States embassy's move to Jerusalem.

The border marches are seen as Hamas' last hope of ending the blockade that has made it increasingly hard for the group to govern.

The White House, on the other hand, blamed the killings on Hamas as well as the protesters, and appeared to be in no mood to spread the blame as some in the USA media and policy circles said was needed. However, a medical official cast doubt on the report, saying the infant had a serious pre-existing medical condition.

What happened at the Gaza border?

Hospitals and other key installations in Gaza, such as sewage treatment and water pumping stations, heavily rely on generators because of hours-long power cuts every day.

Israel has been fighting us since 1948.
