Reports have come in that Trinidad and Tobago footballer and former Aston Villa FC defender, Jlloyd Samuel, was killed in a vehicle accident in the United Kingdom on Tuesday.

Samuel, who made more than 180 appearances for the club between 1998 and 2007, died in the accident on Tuesday morning.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Association confirmed Samuel's death via a statement this morning.

It is understood that the man who was driving the van sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.
