Trump's Doctor And VA Pick Ronny Jackson Accused Of Drinking On Job

The White House on Tuesday evening released multiple hard-copy evaluations and inspector general reports about Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson, the White House physician, in an attempt to vindicate him after allegations emerged about his professional conduct.

The committee is examining new allegations against Jackson, first reported by CBS and confirmed by other news outlets. The hearing was postponed indefinitely while the allegations against him are reviewed.

In private meetings with senators on Tuesday, Jackson reportedly denied all of the allegations and has vowed to stick it out - according to sources who spoke with CNN and Reuters - even after Trump offered him an out on Tuesday when he postulated that he wouldn't put himself through the ringer if he were Jackson.

"Because of the claims and because of the number of people who have made those claims, I met with Chairman Isakson, the chairman of the VA committee and chose to hold off, postpone the hearing for Admiral Jackson to be VA Secretary until we can get to the bottom of this information", says Senator Jon Tester in a video message sent to ABC FOX Montana.

"These were doled out on overseas trips where there's a lot of time-zone changes, and were pretty much doled out as somebody wants to go to sleep, here's a pill", he said, noting that there was no allegations of opioid abuse.

The summary was based on conversations with 23 of Jackson's current and former colleagues at the White House Medical Unit. Kuhlman was the physician to President Barack Obama at the time.

The senior White House official's message with the pro-Jackson information came about four hours after Trump opened the door to the nomination being withdrawn. "He is a tremendous asset to the entire White House team", Obama wrote in 2015.

I don't know, first of all. "In the summer I'm going to ask for No. 2 shirt", Bellerin said in the clip. At least I think that the guy can work in a positive environment.

"The staff characterized the working environment as being caught between parents going through a bitter divorce with one parent undermining and talking bad about the other", according to a report of the findings. John Tester, D-Mont., the ranking Democrat on the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

Republicans returned the favor once Trump was in the White House, and they had the Senate majority, deploying the tactic to seat Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court.

The White House says it was Jackson who requested that assessment and hinted Kuhlman is behind the more recent complaints.

Trump appeared to give Jackson cover to not proceed with his nomination by saying, "I don't think he should do it, but it's entirely up to him".

It was uncertain late Tuesday whether Jackson would continue with the confirmation process. "When we have to use military force, we will and there's no ifs, ands or buts about that, but it needs to be a last resort and I'm not sure it would be with Mike Pompeo", says Tester.

Trump's original VA secretary, David Shulkin, left the job last month amid an ethics scandal over allegations of excessive and reckless spending, and a subsequent rebellion within the agency. But Jackson has faced numerous questions from Republican and Democratic lawmakers, as well as veterans groups, about whether he has the experience to manage the massive department of 360,000 employees serving 9 million veterans.

Jackson is alleged to have so freely distributed prescription drugs to White House staffers, and reporters traveling with them, that he was dubbed "The Candy Man". Meanwhile, people who still work in the medical unit fear for their jobs now that they have spoken out, and Jackson's confirmation hangs loosely by a congressional thread.
