The former world number one came into the week as one of the favourites after showing solid form this year in his comeback from injury but failed to conjure up any of the old magic he once seemed to produce on command at Augusta National. There have been flashes of vintage Phil in there but the three-time Masters victor has not been able to string together scores worthy of challenging the leaderboard.

He said: "I hit one good shot this whole week, it was the 7-iron on 17, which went exactly as I had wanted to".

Woods, enjoying with two groups behind Mickelson and in his initial major as 2015, made a bogey around the par-four initial that left him 14 shots off the pace.
