A storm is developing in the central Plains Sunday and rapidly moving off to the east

From snow to start the workweek to now thunderstorms we have had our fair share of everything. An inch or two of snow is possible from Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning, but no major impacts are expected. Blowing snow has been reported in some areas, and even thundersnow in Traverse City.

Accumulations of 3 inches or more are possible north of M-46, including Muskegon, Cadillac and Mount Pleasant.

Dozens of schools canceled classes today as the snow began to accumulate, including the Wausau, Rhinelander, Stevens Point, Crandon and Marshfield districts.

The weather service says that's on top of the 5.1 inches of snow that fell on Monday. Environment Canada has also issued a freezing rain warning for northern Peterborough, northern Kawartha Lakes, and Hastings, with freezing rain developing overnight and into Wednesday morning.

The impending snow follows a snowy March.

Rebels set to abandon bastion near Syrian capital
It was the first organized evacuation of fighters from Douma, which has held out against government forces through 7 years of war. They say withdrawing the almost 2,000 US troops too early would leave the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in a lurch.

A storm expected to dump 10 inches of snow Tuesday in central Wisconsin and southern Minnesota was making April feel more like January.

Traditional spring temperatures likely won't appear next week either.

Temperatures Thursday and Friday will be twenty to thirty degrees below normal. Breezy, with a west wind around 25 miles per hour.

WCCO meteorologist Matt Brickman said Minnesota could see record cold temperatures in the 30s starting Thursday and ending Sunday, CBS Minnesota reports. The west wind will blow at 11 to 14 miles per hour with gusts up to 28 miles per hour. Highs will likely be in the low 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds will stay mainly out of the west anywhere from 5-15 miles per hour. Wednesday is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high near 30.
