Sacramento Police Department release bodycam footage documenting shooting death of Stephon Clark

Sheriff Jones says he hasn't spoken directly with either of the deputies involved that night as CHP is handling the official investigation.

At the press conference, Jones showed video of the incident from the point of view of the two law enforcement vehicles that became entangled in the protest. "It was a very fast acceleration, not the way you would move with people around". She was treated and released after midnight for bruises to her arm and back of the head.

After a deputy makes several announcements on the loudspeaker to step back from the vehicle and give him room, a protester named Wanda Cleveland walks in front of the auto and gets knocked to the ground.

The Sacramento Police Department's release of body camera and helicopter video, including the officers' subsequent attempt to fabricate a pretext for the murder while their microphones were switched off, have prompted nearly daily protests demanding an end to police violence and poverty in the California's capital city. "A collision occurred while the patrol vehicle was traveling at slow speeds". In a news statement, Hampton said "vandals in the crowd" caused "scratches, dents and a shattered rear window" to the sheriff's auto, per the Sacramento Bee. "The damage to the vehicle was not a result of the collision involving the pedestrian but was caused by vandals in the crowd".

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Stephon Clark, 22, was gunned down March 18 in the backyard of his grandparents' house by police responding to a report that someone was breaking windows. The two officers, responding to reports of auto break-ins in the neighborhood, said they believed Clark to be armed, though he was found with only his cellphone in hand.

States, DC file suit against census citizenship question
That was on display Tuesday in NY , where Democratic lawmakers and immigrant-rights groups staged a rally to announce the lawsuit. In announcing the lawsuit Tuesday in New York City, Schneiderman called the citizenship question risky and damaging.

Last week, protesters gathered in front of the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office holding their cellphones aloft. The Bee described Cleveland as a regular attendee at City Council meetings. The rally was organized by former National Basketball Association player and Sacramento native Matt Barnes, who says the fight for justice for Clark is about "more than just color".

"It's more than color", Barnes told the crowd.

"I'm working with the team though to take this nationally, not just for them because this is a nationwide problem", Barnes said.

Ex-NBA player Matt Barnes announced that he will be launching a scholarship fund for Stephon Clark's two sons to ensure that they can afford to go to college. An independent autopsy reportedly suggests Clark was shot at least six times in the back by police while he was standing in his grandmother's back yard.

The young black man was unarmed, police later said, and was found to be carrying only a cellphone.

"I want to know what he was thinking", Cleveland said from her hospital bed. "Well, obviously, based on Dr. Omalu's findings and the family's autopsy, it suggests all the bullets were from behind".
