Fact-checking Donald Trump's tweets about the border, DACA

Trump's Twitter screed began with him repeating claims of immigrant "caravans" heading to the US from Central America while blaming Mexico for allegedly failing to halt them at its border.

"Border Patrol Agents are not allowed to properly do their job at the Border because of ridiculous liberal (Democrat) laws like Catch & Release".

Taking to his Twitter account, Trump asked Republicans to pass tougher immigration laws now, claiming "our country is being stolen".

Trump also doubled down on his criticism of the Mexican government, saying it has "the absolute power" to stop the "caravans" of hundreds of Central Americans, who, he said, are traveling across the neighboring country on their way to the U.S.

"Congress must immediately pass Border Legislation, use Nuclear Option if necessary, to stop the massive inflow of Drugs and People".

Late previous year, the president moved to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, but it continues on despite a March 5 expiration date that was set by the administration. Trump said, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The president continued to double down in a follow-up tweet, calling on Republicans in Congress to use the "nuclear option" to bypass the Democrats and start construction on his border wall.

"Mexico is doing very little, if not NOTHING, at stopping people from flowing into Mexico through their Southern Border, and then into the U.S. They laugh at our dumb immigration laws", the president tweeted.

Trump tweeted that the US must build a border wall, but argued that "Democrats want No Borders, hence drugs and crime!"

Trump's statements appear to have come after Fox News reported on a caravan of over 1,000 Central American migrants that is now traveling through Mexico.

It was one takeaway from a long holiday break, during which Trump surrounded himself with the type of unwavering allies he's struggled to find in Washington, people familiar with their conversations said.

#FeedonThis: Will it be MI or Villanova?
Maybe even more important, MI has held its opponent under their season average for 3-point attempts 12 times during the 14 games. However, the Wolverines aren't the best team in that category entering Monday's game, as Villanova sits 17 spots ahead of them.

Trump tweeted that the situation is "Getting more dangerous" and "Caravans" are coming.

The group hopes that by traveling in such a large group they will be able to avoid some of the dangers that befell travelers who take the often perilous route through Mexico to the southern border of the United States. Currently, the program is not accepting any additional applications.

"But the White House and Democrats in Congress and some Republicans, they just have not been able to agree on how to do it", she says.

Proposed DACA deals crafted by lawmakers and rejected by Trump also were not open to new participants.

The president's position on DACA has frequently shifted.

Those enrolled in DACA had pinned their hopes on Democrats, who had continuously promised to win permanent legal status for them.

His Easter Sunday comments on Twitter came in apparent response to the movement of hundreds of Central Americans who have joined a "migrant viacrucis" ("way of the cross") caravan headed for the United States border.

Conservative reaction to the tweets was relatively muted, and no Republican member of Congress had a comment or statement Sunday afternoon. "Sinclair is far superior to CNN and even more Fake NBC, which is a total joke".

Trump - who has spent his time in Palm Beach hanging out with family, playing golf with friends and watching television - may have tweeted in response to commentary on Fox News, which he is known to view regularly. "Upholding human dignity and rights is not at odds with the rule of law", he wrote. Their decision to undertake such a perilous and uncertain journey appears to prove that Trump - if, indeed, he said what was reported - had a pretty good point.
