Uber is among a number of technology and auto companies racing toward what some contend is an inevitable future in which vehicles drive themselves.

A Glendale lawyer said today that Uber has "resolved" matters with the family of Elaine Herzberg, the woman killed on March 18 by an Uber self-driving auto.

The successful completion of the test, done with the cooperation of ZTE and China Telecom, is expected to kick off 5G's application in autonomous driving as a high-speed, reliable network is essential for driverless cars to be deemed safe in sometimes chaotic, unpredictable real world conditions.

Kicked out of California, Uber simply drove its cars over the state line into Arizona and Ducey welcome their arrival with a statement that read: "Arizona welcomes Uber self-driving cars with open arms and wide open roads".

"We chose to not reapply for a California DMV permit with the understanding that our self-driving vehicles would not operate on public roads in the immediate future", an Uber spokesperson said in a statement to CNN on Tuesday.

Uber suspended its autonomous vehicle testing program in Arizona, California, Pittsburgh and Toronto after the crash.

SoftBank to invest in solar power project in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi state-owned investment fund, which has assets over 224 billion Dollars , invested around 54 billion Dollars past year . The solar project will provide 100,000 jobs to people and it will also increase Saudi's gross domestic product by $12 billion.

The National Transportation Safety Board, the National Highway Traffic Administration, as well as the Tempe Police Vehicular Crimes Unit are still investigating the accident. On Monday, Gov. Doug Ducey suspended Uber's tests of self-driving cars on Arizona roads.

Later in the day, the New York Times reported on the kind of safety and performance information Arizona doesn't require of driverless operators. Unlike California, Arizona does not have a permitting system for autonomous vehicles.

"As long as human behaviors are the foundation of automated driving technology, safety will continue to be an issue", Shrivastava added. The amount of the settlement was not disclosed, but NPR spoke with a family attorney who declared that "the matter has been resolved".

In allowing Uber and other firms to test the vehicles in Arizona, Ducey specifically sought to exempt them from some of the same kind of reporting that was being required in California and elsewhere.

Uber operating illegally in itself wasn't an antitrust violation, the decision stated, and the risk of monopoly was offset by the existence of other ride-hailing apps, such as Lyft.

Khosrowshahi has ordered the suspension of all of Uber's self-driving programs while the company reviews what went wrong. Three weeks ago, it started a free robot-taxi service for those employees to commute to and from work.
