Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli has said it is futile "trying to teach Lionel Messi anything" new with the forward set to return from injury to face Spain in a World Cup warm-up on Tuesday. "As for the team, we are watching [Manuel] Lanzini's progression to see if he can play". Speaking ahead of Spain's encounter against 2014 World Cup finalist, David de Gea feels it will be better if both teams feature a competitive line-up at Wanda Metropolitano.

And despite training with Argentina he is going to be given time off to recover with the World Cup coming up this summer. "If I would hit that ball in some other way, maybe like I did against Chelsea the other day from a similar position", added Messi.

"Before the game against Italy, Leo said he could not play. If he is not right, it's not convenient for him to play".

"It's tougher for us to play in that area".
