Putin Expresses Gratitude to Voters After Winning Controversial Presidential Election

US President Donald Trump has congratulated Vladimir Putin on his win in Russia's presidential election in a telephone call yesterday, the Kremlin press service reported.

The Post, citing an unspecified number of officials familiar with the call, said Trump likewise did not listen to aides who gave him talking points to condemn a nerve agent poisoning in the United Kingdom, which the usa has blamed on Russian Federation.

Putin and Trump agreed on the need to avoid an arms race and discussed "a possible high-level meeting", the Kremlin said.

The White House press office declined to comment on the briefing materials given to Trump.

"I congratulated him on the victory, the electoral victory", Trump told reporters at the White House while meeting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The flap comes as Donald Trump continues to fight off allegations that his campaign colluded with Russian Federation during the 2016 election.
