Yakuza Kiwami 2 heads to the West on August 28

A year ago we got Yakuza Kiwami, which was a remake of the PlayStation 2 original brought into the modern HD PS4 era.

The Dragon of Dojima's exploits may come to a close in Yakuza 6, but don't count on that being the only title featuring him as a protagonist to release this year.

The demo for PS4 exclusive Yakuza 6: The Song of Life is headed back to PSN, according to its developers. Sega announced a release date for Yakuza Kiwami 2, which brings its updated take on Yakuza 2 to PS4 in the west on August 28. Take into account that the demo will not only give you access to these mini-games, you can enjoy the content of the prologue of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. There's also a bunch of new features added to the game, such as minigames and, more importantly, a brand-new campaign featuring Goro Majima as a playable character.

A remastered version of the 2006 title Yakuza 2 for the PlayStation 2, the game is scheduled to release this coming August 28. SEGA is committed to supporting the best Yakuza experience possible for the series' dedicated fans around the world. Like the original release, Kiwami 2 is set a year after the first Yakuza story, where Kiryu is tasked with a mission to prevent a massive fight between the troubled Tojo Clan - which he had tried to avoid returning to - and Osaka's ambitious Omi Family.

Make sure to watch the announcement trailer below.

A new logo has also been announced for the studio working on Yakuza games, the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, and you can check it out at the bottom of the post. Are you excited to play Yakuza Kiwami 2 this summer?
