Reports: CB Butler leaving Patriots for $61 million deal with Titans

Butler effectively was benched - save for one special teams snap - in Super Bowl LII on February 4, and the reasoning remains a mystery.

Butler will join new head Mike Vrabel, general manager Jon Robinson and cornerback Logan Ryan, all of whom spent time in New England.

Malcolm Butler was Robinson's central target all along.

Meanwhile, ESPN has reported that the Titans have also signed former Patriots running back Dion Lewis to a four-year deal worth $23 million.

The early free agent additions are sure to make this team even more risky going into 2018, as teams like the Patriots continue to age.

"I just talked to him in the cafeteria, and he was talking some things I wanted to hear", Butler said of Pees, with a smile.

That tension apparently reached it's breaking point in the Patriots' Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Lewis was a monster for New England when he arrived in 2015, before an ACL tear and surgical complications put him on the shelf for a year.

Coach Bill Belichick said the decision was based on giving the team the best chance to win, but questions behind the move continued-and it doesn't look like anyone will be getting answers any time soon. Hell half of New England thinks Belichick cost the Patriots the Super Bowl by benching Butler.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Officially Announced
Of course 2018 isn't just bringing a new Tomb Raider game - there's also a new film starring Alicia Vikander , out now in the UK. Lara's been through a lot, and we can imagine it's going to be an even more hard journey throughout her third game.

Now, finally, Butler has opened up about the benching. "I feel like this was the reason: I got kind of sick. I'm just happy they thought I'm one of those players to help".

Over the past three seasons, Butler started 47 of 48 regular-season games for New England and seven of eight postseason games. Those fans, they really had love for me and they still do.

Butler told Howe he "recovered pretty fast" from the aftermath of everything that happened, adding that he understands there's always going to be rumors and speculation from people trying to search for some sort of additional explanation.

"You can't change the past", he said.

"I really appreciate that from him".

Butler said he's already looking forward to competing against Titans receiver Corey Davis in practices.

In doing so, maybe they find the next Lewis, or Butler. My teammates, they should have my back because I never disrespected any of my teammates.

The New Orleans Saints have interest in a pair of free agent cornerbacks. I'm going to try to outplay what I've got.
