Malcolm Butler is headed to Tennessee in free agency, according to reports. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later advised that the deal is for five years and over $61 million, with more than $30 million guaranteed. He rose to unexpected fame with his Super Bowl interception, and the team showed its faith in him the following season, in 2015, by elevating him to the No. 1 spot on the depth chart to replace departed free agent Darrelle Revis.

Butler was released by the Patriots after a season in which he tallied 55 tackles, two interceptions and 12 passes defensed.

At that point, no one knew if Butler would remain a flash-in-the-pan Super Bowl hero or make something of himself. The team also signed Logan Ryan away from New England past year, so it appears that Ryan and Butler will figure into the position prominently, along with 2017 first-round pick Adoree' Jackson.

Donald Trump to get military parade, but no tanks
In practice, that means "period uniforms", re-enactments and even the use of an "old guard fife and drum", the memo says. However, a Pentagon memo declared the parade to be excluding tanks in order to lessen the impact inflicted on roads.

Despite the highly-publicized matter, Butler received plenty of interest in free agency. The New Orleans Saints hosted Butler on a visit but never signed him to an offer sheet. Butler didn't play a single defensive snap in the 41-33 defeat. However, for a high profile position such as cornerback, it will be interesting to see just who that "next man up" will be in the Patriots defensive backfield.

A player with his resume will certainly have suitors, and thus far, at least three teams have been reported to have their eyes on the 28-year-old.

Per NBC Sports Boston, the Lions - who are led by a pair of ex-Patriots in head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn - are "quite interested" in Butler's services.
