No injuries have been reported to humans or the animal.

Footage posted online shows a woman in a black bikini on the horse in the extremely crowded nightclub. Beach police quickly opened a criminal investigation.

CBS4 also received images from viewers that appear to show a camel and another horse inside the club on different occasions, the station reports.

"This is 2018, not Studio 54, and we know that horses are skittish animals who don't belong among the pounding music, shouting crowds, and flashing lights of a nightclub", People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said in a statement.

Miami Beach police have made a decision to launch an investigation.

Miami Beach City Manager Jimmy Morales announced on Friday (Saturday NZ Time) that he was revoking the Mokai Lounge's business licence.

Just when you thought glitzy, bottle-service nightclubs couldn't get any worse, someone chose to force a live horse into the mix of a packed Miami nightclub. According to CBS Miami, that's precisely what happened at a club called The Mokai Lounge, according to several viral videos depicting the incident on social media. "This activity was not permitted, and as soon as we became aware, I immediately instructed staff to act swiftly in remedying this situation".

This story originally appeared on CBS Miami's website.

Back in Studio 54's heyday, Bianca Jagger rode a similar looking horse inside the wild NYC club in May 1977 for her birthday celebration.

He said he supported the city manager's swift response to the incident.
