Vols clash with Kentucky in classic SEC Tournament championship game

Vols' NCAA Tournament History By the Numbers

Kentucky and Tennessee are not in danger of missing the NCAA Tournament, but there is pride on the line for both teams heading into Sunday's SEC championship game.

The last time Kentucky entered the NCAA tournament with at least 10 losses was in 2013-14 as a No. 8 seed.

Gilgeous-Alexander was 10 of 16 from the field and added seven rebounds and a pair of steals, and he hit the clinching free throws with 2.4 seconds remaining.

Kevin Knox had 18 points for the Wildcats, and Quade Green finished with 10.

Wright State, which finished second in the Horizon League regular season, secured the automatic bid by beating No. 8 seed Cleveland State in the conference tournament final. Rick Barnes calls timeout as Kentucky extends its lead to 15 points. Close doesn't count when it comes to playing Kentucky.

United Kingdom went to the locker room ahead 36-31. Admiral Schofield posted another strong performance with 16 points, seven boards and two assists. But Killeya-Jones dunked the rebound to give United Kingdom a 66-62 lead going into the final three-plus minutes. United Kingdom drew back in front by as many as 9 after Green converted on 2 free throws and Knox put in a lay up courtesy of a PJ Washington steal.

"What you're seeing right now is these kids have committed to each other". Play resumed after a 10-minute stoppage.

United Kingdom is 32-10 in SEC Tournament finals.

Kentucky continued its intense effort that started with the win over Georgia Friday when it held the Bulldogs to 28 percent shooting.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a team-high 29 points, and the Kentucky basketball team won their 4th straight SEC Tournament Championship. They'll have to beat red-hot Kentucky for a third time this season. That put the Cats ahead 13-5.

Donald Trump to get military parade, but no tanks
In practice, that means "period uniforms", re-enactments and even the use of an "old guard fife and drum", the memo says. However, a Pentagon memo declared the parade to be excluding tanks in order to lessen the impact inflicted on roads.

Gabriel went 7 for 7 from 3-point range, leading Kentucky past Alabama to set up a championship game showdown on Sunday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis with the surging Volunteers.

Tennessee didn't make life easy for the Wildcats, who looked like they would cruise to victory after storming out to a 33-16 lead.

Thereafter Schofield reminded everyone that the competition had not been completed.

Schofield scored five points as Tennessee increased its lead and took a 31-24 halftime edge. The Volunteers, who came into the game averaging an offensive rebounding percentage of 32.3, had an absurd mark of 48.9 and had a free throw rate of 0.283 (above their season average of 0.275).

Gilgeous-Alexander led United Kingdom with 14 points in the first half, fourth time in last five games he was in double figures by halftime. "And in order for us to be an effective team, I have to get to my spots and make people react off the plays so I can get my teammates open".

Kyle Alexander, James Daniel III and Grant Williams all added 12 points apiece. Win or lose that game, it's a different basketball tournament next week.

UT twice went to Williams.

The Volunteers kept much of that intensity coming out into the 2nd half, as they jumped out to a 41-38 lead on yet another three-pointer from Schofield.

As Kentucky wobbled (going scoreless for more than four minutes), Tennessee charged. The junior had 13 points during the last 3:17 of playing in the frame, including three straight threes. "Being in that position, I'm comfortable taking shots".

Then Kentucky's young squad came through down the stretch.
