Farmers in the state, struggling to cope with the agrarian crisis and natural calamities, are demanding the proper implementation of the loan waiver package announced by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in 2017, the implementation of recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, and protesting the government's "anti-farmer policies". Aware of farmers' anger, the government in its budget presented on 9 March took a clear farm sector focus.

Government officials and the police are already in talks with the protesters to avoid chaos on Monday.

"I have injured my feet due to excessive walking, but I will continue to protest until our demands are met", she said.
