Amazon's Alexa voice assistant won't stop randomly laughing

Deezer subscribers can use voice commands to call up their music library on Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices

Deezer subscribers can use voice commands to call up their music library on Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices

Some users said Amazon's Alexa voice-based digital assistant began laughing in response to unrelated commands, Bloomberg reported.

One user reportedly tried to turn the lights off in their home but Alexa repeatedly turned the lights back on, eventually uttering an 'evil laugh, ' according to BuzzFeed.

"We're aware of this and working to fix it", they stated.

The gradual rollout to 66 countries starts today, and Deezer will also be available on Amazon Echo as well as other devices that support Alexa such as Sonos One, Ultimate Ears BLAST and MEGABLAST.

The random laugh is different from the "teehee" laugh Alexa gives when asked if it can laugh.

The military also said only terror targets are being destroyed and that " utmost care " is being taken to avoid harming civilians. Thousands of civilians in Afrin have fled their homes since Turkey's offensive began.

Unplugging the Alexa-enabled devices was a popular solution for those who were irked after hearing the ominous laughter. Users can review and delete these clips at any time in the Alexa app's History section. "We had the Dot laugh several times and it wasn't the laugh Alexa produces, but definitely sounded like a canned laugh, not like someone laughing live". Was he afraid? "There's a good chance I get murdered tonight", he added.

Some Alexa users may feel like they've been dropped into a science fiction story about an artificial intelligence gone awry. Others then tweeted about similar occurrences with their own Alexa devices.

Another user responded to the comment to say, "Holy crap this happened to me and I [thought] I was alone".

Amazon confirmed on Wednesday that some of its Echo smart speakers are having random, and creepy, fits of laughter.
