Former Trump campaign official 'to plead guilty in Russia probe'

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and a former associate were indicted for a second time on new charges including failure to report income to tax authorities, in a move that could increase the pressure on them to cooperate with the investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

The first 12 indictments against Manafort and Gates, all related to bank fraud and conspiracy charges, were issued in the District of Columbia. Gates and Manafort accused of fraud, money laundering, conspiracy against US interests and deceiving the American authorities regarding their cooperation with the ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.

Mueller is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, as well as possible links between the Kremlin and the Trump campaign and other issues that have come to light during the probe.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates already faced charges over their work for a pro-Russian political faction in Ukraine. The latter questioned him concerning a report which Gates and Manafort have funded by funneling approximately four million dollars via an offshore account.

The charges against Manafort and Gates arise from their foreign lobbying and efforts that prosecutors say they made to hide their income by disguising it as loans from offshore companies.

In a court document filed in the case Mueller previously brought against Manafort and Gates in Washington D.C., prosecutors indicated that a 32-count indictment had been filed against two men in the Eastern District of Virginia, with a copy of thenew indictment attached.

A flight between the two cities can take over three hours if it not a non-stop flight, and about an hour if it is. The second phase will target the complete construction of the full Pune-Mumbai route in five to seven years.

On Tuesday, a former associate at NY law firm Skadden, Arps pleaded guilty to lying to federal authorities about his communications with Gates, among other things.

The grounds for the withdrawal request by Gates' lawyers was sealed when it was filed February 1. Numerous alleged crimes date back to years to before the 2016 campaign, but some continued past Election Day.

Manafort had worked as a longtime adviser to Tymoshenko's rival and successor, then Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych.

A spokesman for Mr. Manafort said, "I don't comment on rumors".

A Chicago bank executive is reportedly being investigated as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation probe. He took over an ongoing FBI investigation into Manafort's foreign lobbying work. Those charges are also connected to the offshore accounts in the new indictment.
