England provide first test as Ronald Koeman is announced as Netherlands manager

Ronald Koeman has been appointed the new manager of the Netherlands national team.

The 54-year-old Koeman signed a contract until the 2022 World Cup and replaces Dick Advocaat, who was appointed as a stop-gap measure in June after Danny Blind was sacked.

Ronald Koeman will become the Netherlands' fourth boss since Louis van Gaal stepped down after leading the country to a third-place finish at the 2014 World Cup.

As a player, Koeman wore Oranje 78 times, but he is now tasked with guiding Netherlands to Euro 2020 and then the World Cup.

Former Everton manager Koeman has been out of a job since he was dismissed by the Premier League club back in October.

"We need a system to get the best out of our players and to get an advantage over our opponents".

Ronald Koeman took charge of the struggling Netherlands team on Tuesday.

Assange loses bid to have arrest warrant dropped
Despite the fact that the Swedish case has been dropped, the British authorities consider that he breached his bail conditions. Earlier this month, Ecuador granted citizenship to Assange after officials decided his living situation was unsustainable.

Hiddink was sacked in 2015 and replaced by Blind, who could not secure qualification for Euro 2016 and began the ultimately unsuccessful campaign to qualify for Russian Federation before making way for Advocaat.

He also said there was more "tactically" that the team can do, hinting that he may not always stick with the Dutch team's vaunted 4-3-3 line up saying "I'm a coach who likes to change systems" adding players should be able "to handle different systems".

He was given the boot from Everton with the side 18th in the Premier League.

Koeman had guided Everton to seventh in his first season in charge.

"I see a lot of talent", he said.

The former Everton manager's first opponents will be England in a friendly at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam on 23rd March.
