Or that hers could have gone up a lot more if you had given them a lot less?

Mr Ryan posted other links this week to media reports of how people are seeing more meaningful increases in their pay - some said to be as much as $1,000 (£708).

"Paul Ryan deleted his embarrassing tweet of a blatant admission because he and Republicans don't want you to know the truth: the #GOPTaxScam is a gift to corporate America and the top 1% at your expense", Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-California, tweeted. I tried to start a girl-band when I was 12.

$1.50 a week will indeed cover the basic $60 membership to Costco, but it wouldn't cover the gold membership!

The Associated Press reported that House Speaker Paul Ryan tweeted about Julia Ketchum, of Lancaster, who was named in a previous AP business story about changes in tax withholding sparking bigger paychecks.

But the tweet was quickly mocked and the Wisconsin Republican deleted it within hours.

Signed into law last December, the tax bill has been repeatedly touted by Republican lawmakers and President Trump as crucial legislation meant to help US workers. But because the bill also kills or limits key tax deductions - most notably reducing the amount of state and local taxes that individuals can deduct on their federal tax returns - the impact on individuals will vary.

Neither Ryan's office nor Ketchum could be reached for comment.

Former George W. Bush ethics lawyer, Richard W. Painter said that Ryan "should be ashamed of himself" for publishing the tweet.

While it's hard to be sure, since President Donald Trump refuses to release his income tax records, The Washington Post has written that he stands to save millions of dollars through the bill he promoted and signed.

"Guess someone told Paul Ryan you shouldn't go around praising yourself for giving a working person an extra $1.50 a week - because he deleted this tweet".

Polar bears 'working out of meals'
Arctic sea ice in December was at its second-lowest level since 1979 , according to the National Snow & Ice Data Center. Four other bears lost up to 10 percent of their body mass over the same period, the result of not catching seals.
