A 12-year-old girl was booked on a charge of negligent discharge of a firearm after the shooting, police had said Thursday. Three others, including two children and 30-year-old woman suffered minor injuries which were not caused by the shooting.

Italian news reports said the man did a fascist salute as he was arrested, but no salute was visible in the video.

"It was very hard for him to relate to others", Clerico said.

Matteo Salvini, Lega's leader, condemned Saturday's shootings.

The Northern League's opponents seized on the killing as evidence that the right-wing party's rhetoric was stirring violence and division within Italian society.

Emergency crews responded to the 100 block of St. Johns Street around 10:28 p.m. and found the man, 27, suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.

Police confirmed in a tweet that "the wounded persons were of foreign nationality", adding that the "presumed author of the attack is Italian".
