US is in talks with Turkey about Manbij Mattis

The state-run Anadolu Agency says three rockets targeted the town of Reyhanli in Hatay province on Friday, hitting a house, a road close to a marketplace and the outer wall of a workplace.

Meanwhile, the Turkish forces have captured Darmik mountain in northern Syria during its military operation against Kurdish forces in Syria's Afrin district, local media reported on Friday.

"Turkey takes slow but firm steps in Afrin operation which substantially reduce the risk of harming civilians and causalities from the Turkish side", Murat Arslan, an academic from Hasan Kalyoncu University said speaking in a panel organized by the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA).

On Jan. 20, Turkish military launched the cross-border land operation to fight the Syrian Kurdish militia, targeting the YPG elements in the Kurdish enclave with Free Syrian Army fighters through airstrikes and land forces.

According to the Turkish leadership, Ankara's ongoing Afrin operation is aimed at clearing the country's border with Syria from terrorist presence.

More than 300 people have been detained over social media posts that "criticised, opposed or misrepresented" the Afrin campaign, which started almost two weeks ago, the government has said.

The operation also aims to establish security and stability along Turkey's borders and the region as well as to protect Syrians from terrorist oppression and cruelty.
