Love breaks hand in Cavaliers' 125-114 loss to Detroit

The defeat wasn't the worst news from the night for the Cavs as they lost Kevin Love to a broken left hand. The team said Love had a non-displaced fracture in his fifth metacarpal and his status would be updated after team doctors examine his hand on Wednesday in Cleveland.

For what it's worth, Love underwent surgery on the same hand back in 2009, which required three screws to be inserted into his hand. Not only have they lost 11 of their last 16, but now they have to figure out how to replace Kevin Love.

Isaiah Thomas noted that players were not happy that he did not stay on the sidelines to support the rest of his team.

During their last five games, the Cavaliers have scored an average of 115.2 points per game (5.2 above their season average) and allowed an average of 119.8 points per game (10.0 above their season average). But had Griffin chosen to leave in free agency, as James did when he joined the Miami Heat, he likely would have been lambasted by fans claiming he was not loyal to the franchise.

Detroit gave up three players to get Griffin, and neither he nor the other two players the Pistons received in return were available against Cleveland. Tuesday, he delivered, scoring 25 points on 8 for 13 shooting, including a clutch basket down the stretch.

In 11 seasons with the Senators, the husband to country music star Carrie Underwood recorded 167 goals and 348 points. Fisher retired past year after serving as team captain for the Predators during their run to the Stanley Cup Final.

Andre Drummond held out Ben Simmons to be named as John Wall's replacement for the All-Star game in Los Angeles game next month. Two consecutive 3-pointers by Korver cut the Pistons' lead to 103-101 with 6:55 to play. Bullock's trey with five minutes left pushed the Pistons' up to 111-104.

The Cavs got some things right while Wade was gone, beating the by seven and the Pistons by 17 to string together their first winning streak since mid-December.

Griffin is expected to join the Pistons for Tuesday's game against Cleveland (29-19). Drummond got it started with a put-back and finished it off with a dunk.

With nine field goals, James (10,924) passed Dirk Nowitzki (10,917) and moved into eighth place on the NBA's all-time list.

Channing Frye chipped in 20 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Dwyane Wade went for 18 points and eight boards.
