Twitter is working on a video sharing tool resembling Snapchat

This feature is now available in Australia and Canada, where both, the iOS and Android apps have already been updated with the new design, which was being teased by the company last November.

After recently unveiling a fresh look, video messaging app Snapchat has announced it will allow users to share its public content beyond the mobile app. Bloomberg's report stated that Twitter's goal with the new product is to cut down the number of steps to start sharing videos.

The entire process of sharing video on Twitter requires several taps that give the impression that video isn't a priority. Facebook even took it even further by copying Snapchat's Story format and adding it across its own apps. Jack Dorsey returned to helm the company as CEO in 2015, and its most recent earnings report revealed a 15% uptick in daily active users, an important metric for social media companies. While this means more views for users' content, it also brings new eyes to Snapchat, as people without the app can view photos and videos.

Last November, Twitter doubled its signature 140-character limit to 280 characters, which initially drew the ire of some users. According to people who have seen the new feature in action, the San Francisco-based company already has a working demo of the camera-centered product.

Snapchat is one of the few apps that automatically activates a camera feature when the app is opened. For Facebook and Instagram, users will only have to swipe right to access the camera, as pointed out by MacRumors. This new feature will be introduced alongside the roll-out of the application's major redesign.

The options to send include SMS, email, and other messaging platforms, or users can simply copy the link for the story.
