Rand Paul attacker charged with assaulting a member of congress

Boucher had "had enough" and he ran onto Paul's yard and tackled him, the statement said, causing Paul to suffer multiple fractured ribs as well as complications that meant he contracted pneumonia.

He said the incident was not about politics.

The neighbor of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul signed a plea agreement Friday for the November attack that left the Republican lawmaker with six broken ribs. "Those who choose to commit such an act will be held accountable". Rand Paul at his home in November has been charged with assaulting a member of Congress resulting in personal injury.

Other neighbors told CNN at the time that the two men had argued over yard waste for years. Boucher could have faced up to 10 years behind bars.

Boucher has reportedly agreed to a plea deal, although no future court dates have been set.

Australia captain Steve Smith: "We're not playing good enough one-day cricket". The third match of the series will be played in Sydney on Sunday.

Boucher has maintained that the assault had nothing to do with Paul being a senator. However, the claim that the attack was the result of a lawn-care dispute seemed like a stretch given that, according to Rand Paul, there was no argument or discussion of any kind prior to the tackle.

But Boucher told investigators that was not the case.

"Just as we are committed to protecting the American people, the Federal Bureau of Investigation will not tolerate violence directed against members of Congress", Special Agent in Charge Amy S. Hess said in a statement. Neighbors said Paul and Boucher have argued about leaves and lawn clippings before. Boucher had previously been charged with a misdemeanor in a county court and had pleaded not guilty...

The senator's office did not respond to a request for comment.
