The U.S. Marshals Service has identified the Marshal killed in the line of duty while serving a warrant in Harrisburg this morning. A woman told James she asked another woman to move her double-parked auto out of the street.

The fatal shooting of a USA marshal in Harrisburg hits close to home for law enforcement authorities in Berks County.

The second officer wounded is Kyle Pitts, a member of the York City Police Department.

Authorities say Hill was part of a team of officers serving a warrant for the arrest of a woman wanted by Harrisburg police for making threats.

The shooting occurred near where police shot and killed an Egyptian immigrant on December 22 after he wounded a state trooper and shot at another officer near the Capitol.

Multiple law enforcement officers have been taken to the hospital after a shooting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, reports say.

Officers clearing the residence say the shooting suspect was inside. The fate of Pierce and the man who shot at the officers was unclear.

Investigators identified him as Kevin Sturgis, 31, of Philadelphia. He was taken to the hospital and he was said to have non-life threatening injuries, FOX43 reported. "He was the cream of the crop".

"Chris is just one of those guys that rises to the top", Pane said.

In a statement issued from Washington, Attorney General Jeff Sessions described law enforcement as heartbroken over Hill's death. He did not specifify if the US Marshal was included in the count. Another official also said Pierce goes by the last name Towles. "They achieve these critical accomplishments at often heroic risk".

The shooting occurred at a home less than two miles from the state Capitol, in a working class neighborhood of duplexes, single-family homes and commercial buildings. He was believed to have acted alone.
