HBO confirms 2019 release for 'Game of Thrones' season 8

HBO confirmed creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would direct episodes of the six-episode season, along with Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.

An announcement from United States premium cable channel HBO has confirmed long suspected rumours that the show would not return in 2018. Leaving fans with only seven episodes as opposed to its typical 10 episode season.

HBO makes it official an announces the final Season of Game of Thrones will debut in 2019. The latest entertainment news has revealed that the upcoming final series will have only six episodes, unlike the previous seasons that had ten episodes each.

Game of Thrones is not coming back until 2019, HBO has announced. As the biggest hit in HBO's history, one the subscription service hoped to continue for additional seasons, keeping the show around awhile long isn't a bad thing.

If not, at least fans will be hyped for 2019.

Fans of the hit show - starring Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage and Gwendoline Christie - will have to wait a whole year to find out the fate of their favourite characters when the final six episodes will be screened.
