Union Minister Piyush Goyal addressing a press conference described the article titled "The Golden Touch of Jay Amit Shah" as "absolutely false, baseless, malicious, defamatory, hollow with absolutely no substance".

Asserting that the BJP was "confident" that there is no wrongdoing on the part of Jay Shah, Mr Goyal also hit out at the Congress for opposing the publication of Justice Dhingra report into the controversial land transactions of Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

"All the loans were taken strictly in accordance with law on commercial rates of interest, securities were provided and the loans paid back in full with transactions", the minister said. "Jay Shah has made a decision to file criminal and civil defamation suit against the author, editors and the owner of news website The Wire for Rs 100 crore for defamation", Goyal said. "They shall be prosecuted for criminal defamation and sued for an amount of Rs 100 crore in the Ahmedabad court", he said.

Based on the filings with Registrar of Companies (ROC), online portal The Wire claimed that Temple Enterprise Private Limited - the company owned by Jay Shah - saw an increase in its turnover from Rs.50,000 in 2014-15 to Rs.80 crore.

"This matter should not be exaggerated and our Pradhan Sewak (Prime Minister Modi) should initiate probe in this matter", he added. "Will the PM ask CBI to act? will arrests take place?" "BJP president Amit Shah should also answer whether the favours given to his son's company were done under any political pressure", he said.

The report also said that the company received an unsecured loan of Rs 15.78 crore from a financial services firm owned by Rajesh Khandwala, promoter of KIFS Financial Service and the in-law of Parimal Nathwani, a BJP-supported Rajya Sabha MP and senior executive of Reliance Industries.

Notice to CBI following Dera chief's appeal against conviction
A police officer in Panchkula, Haryana said they found out about the condition of the two arrestees during primary investigation. He had alleged that it was Honeypreet who disbursed Rs 1.25 crore for the supporters, ahead of the judgement.

Soon after Shah led a march to the CPI (M) office, the communist party criticised the "Jan Raksha Yatra" saying it was aimed at diverting public attention from the growing discontent against the Modi government.

AAP spokesperson Ashutosh demanded an FIR be filed against Jay Shah.

Later in the evening, Sibal wondered why Goyal, a union minister, had to defend Jay Shah.

"Today, we want to ask our Prime Minister what you now think about crony capitalism". He said the got company got Rs 25 crore loan from the Kalupur Commercial Cooperative Bank. We know who CBI, ED will investigate and who ED and CBI will not investigate.

The Aam Aadmi Party also demanded a probe into the allegations and said a criminal probe should be started. "We outrightly reject the allegations and thus [they] should not be reproduced in a way that could be defamatory", Goyal said.
