Carolina Panthers report card: Grades reflect production, always a victor in Detroit

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Sunday's performance was just another example of Funchess' continued growth in Carolina's aerial assault. We're getting timing down between him and his receivers. While there's some merit to that second part, his teammates charged with protecting him - and that includes the tight ends and running backs - need to be better.

"Shaq made a great play on that one, actually", Ebron said after the game. But the Panthers are 4-1 and beginning to click on most cylinders.

"I've got a lot of confidence in myself and a lot of confidence in this offense".

Through five games, Funchess has 24 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns, and is on pace to shatter his career highs of 31 catches, 473 yards and five scores set his rookie year in 2015. He said that Detroit had watched film and were well aware how big Funchess, Benjamin and Dickson were, but acknowledged that his defense hadn't been able to stop them.

"I had a tryout and they wanted to have me come to training camp, but I had a guaranteed contract from five countries to play basketball and make about $100,000 with the team paying taxes, an apartment, a vehicle and some food". "(But) it's five games, and if we don't play well from here on out none of it matters".

Sunday, a 27-10 lead was trimmed to three and the Panthers were one third-and-long away from giving the Lions the ball back with a chance to win it before a clutch connection between Newton and Kelvin Benjamin. That's why I expect the Lions to win.

It's pretty good for the Panthers, too.

GROUND GAINS: Detroit is slowly improving its running game, going from among the NFL's worst to relatively average.

No chance of Liverpool title win with Klopp's current defence - Henchoz
Marcus Rashford has eight goals, four assists, 42 shots and 19 shots on target in 12 games for club and country this season. Both City and United have conceded just 2 league goals, though the Citizens have scored 22, compared to the Red Devils' 21.

And Detroit's tackling wasn't up to snuff.

Los Angeles Chargers defensive back Blake Countess made one tackle with the defense and one on special teams in a 16-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. "When we get 88 (Olsen's number) back and I'm ready to go. having a few tight ends that are good like this is good".

Down 27-10 to start the final frame, the Lions frantically mounted yet another fourth quarter comeback for which they have been so effective doing as of late.

Coupled with Philadelphia's 34-7 win over the Cardinals, Week 6 of the 2017 National Football League season will begin with a pair of 4-1 teams playing Thursday in Charlotte.

Matthew Stafford had played consistently well this season and I like the way the Lions defense is creating turnovers.

Detroit was manhandled upfront for a second consecutive week, which is the more concerning aspect of the play.

"I'm a man who tries to be a positive role model in my community and tries to use my platform to inspire others". "We did what we wanted to do, we always want to outpoint our opponents in that area (Carolina had 28 yards on 28 attempts) and I think we ran the ball better than our opposition did".
